Effect of poplar (Populus sp.) biomass pretreatment on the yield of its enzymatic hydrolysis
Populus deltoides x maximowiczii wood was pretreated mech. or by steam explosion at 130 degrees C for 2,5 h and underwent enzymatic hydrolysis for 24 to 360 h to produce glucose for further alc. fermentation. The glucose yield in the hydrolysis increased with decreasing wood particle size (up to 50.9%). The steam explosion resulted in low yield of glucose (below 24.1%)
