Effect of the latex stabilization on its modification with poly(vinyl chloride) plastisol
Four corn. latexes were stabilized by addn. of ionic and nonionic surfactants, poly(vinyl chloride) plastisols and polyurethane thickeners. The latexes were analyzed for particle radius, Huggins const., surface tension, activation energy of viscous flow, softening temp. of the latex polymer and relative hardness of the polymer films as well as for their changes after addn. of particular components. The modification resulted in increasing the latex stability and viscous flow activation energy as well in decreasing the softening point and hardness of polymer films.
