Nano-composite films were prepared by mixing gold-nanorod (Au-nanorod) and azo-functionalized polymer in toluene, and following spin coating on a glass substrate. The compopsites films showed absorption bands around 520 and 1000 nm corresponding to the short and long axes of the Au-nanorod. Reversible change in absorbanee at 1000 nm was achieved by photoalignment of molecular orientation of azo-chromophores.
