Synthesis and antimicrobial activity of some new 3-substituted benzyl-5-(4-chloro-2-piperidin-1-ylthiazole-5-yl-methylene)-thiazolidine -2,4-dione derivatives
A new series of thiazolyl thiazolidine-2,4-dione (Va-f) were synthesized and their structures were elucidated by IR, H-1-NMR, mass spectra and elementary analysis. The synthesized compounds were tested for their antimicrobial activities against Candida albicans, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Escherichia coli. Compounds Va-b, Vd-f showed high activity against Escherichia coli comparable to ampicillin.
