The ArI2(ion-pair states) van der Waals complexes
The ArI2(E0(g)(+)) van der Waals complexes have been observed and studied for the first time. Analysis of the luminescence excitation spectra as well as luminescence spectra themselves in the spectral ranges, where the I-2(E0(g)(+) -> B0(u)(+), D0(u)(+) -> X0(g)(+), beta 1(g) -> Al-u and D'2(g) -> A'2(u)) transitions can occur, has been carried out. It has been shown that the I-2(D -> X, beta -> A and D' -> A') luminescence is due to ArI2 (E <- B) transitions with subsequent predissociation. We have determined the spectroscopic parameters of the ArI2 (E,upsilon(E) = 0-3) complexes. It has been shown that rate of vibrational predissociation is similar to 10 times less than total rate of the ArI2(E,upsilon(E) = 0-3) -> Ar + I-2 (D, beta, D') electronic predissociation.
