Glycerol-based polymers as binders for explosives
Two plastic - bonded explosives were made by mixing hexogen with polyglycerol or white oil and studied for friction and impact sensitivity, detonation velocity and blasting properties. The relative ability to perform work by the blast wave impulse was detd. by Held method and simultaneous measurement of blast wave pressure using piezoelectric sensors. Both explosives showed similar velocities of detonation. The polyglycerol-contg. explosive showed lower resistance to mech. stimuli, but a better ability to perform work.
