Carbonaceous smokeless fuel and modern small-scale boilers limiting the residential emission. Part 2. Experimental tests of a new carbonaceous smokeless fuel
New solid carbonaceous smokeless fuel was tested in a std. chamber boiler with power output 20 kW. Combustion of the new fuel was conducted with the same boiler power (21,3 kW) as in the case of bituminous coal and much higher than in the case of biomass combustion. Emissions of CO, dust, org. pollutants, benzo(a)pyrene and polycyclic arom. hydrocarbons in the flue gas from the combustion of the smokeless fuel were much lower than those detd. during the combustion of coal (nut assortment), furniture boards, wood lump, and lump wood coated with acrylic paint. Only the content of NOx in the flue gas was lower during the biomass combustion than during the smokeless fuel combustion.
