A time efficient reduction strategy for bulk production of reduced graphene oxide using selenium powder as a reducing agent
This work reports a time effective and facile reduction of graphene oxide to few-layered reduced graphene oxide (rGO) using a very minute amount of selenium powder at 360 A degrees C in a sealed tube. The prepared samples were purified and analyzed with field emission scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy which confirmed the formation of few-layered rGO. It seems that high surface area (795 m(2) g(-1)) of prepared bulk rGO by this path would be a better option for polymer chemist to develop cheaper and highly reinforced rGO-based blend materials for the various thermo-mechanical applications.
