Three-dimensional simulations of viscoelastic instability in polymeric filaments
The three-dimensional Lagrangian integral method is used to simulate the elastic end-plate instability that occurs in the rapid extension of some polymeric filaments between parallel plates. It is demonstrated that the upper convected Maxwell model describes the essential features of the instability.
