In this study, we investigated the photocatalytic properties of perovskite-type oxides BaLnO(3) (Ln = Ce, Pr, and Tb). Both Pt loaded BaCeO3 and Pt-loaded BaPrO3 show no photocatalytic activity under blue LED irradiation; however, Pt-loaded BaTbO3 shows photocatalytic activity for H-2 evolution. Although the rate of H-2 evolution was very low, this is the first example of a perovskite-type BaTbO3 showing photocatalytic activity for H-2 evolution from an aqueous methanol solution under blue LED irradiation.
