Brief - Development of the Electronic Journal of Petroleum Engineering
A new electronic petroleum engineering journal with on-line submission, review and distribution is being developed to provide an additional and needed outlet for technological developments. The primary objective of this journal is to provide a medium for rapid exchange of up to-date advances in petroleum engineering. The Electronic Journal of Petroleum Engineering (E-JPE) will take substantially less time to publish because it will decrease the time required by traditional reviewing, printing, and distributing processes and will allow more widespread participation by international reviewers. E-JPE will be developed in phases to "debug" the process and to increase distribution and participation Papers will not be subjected to the size constraints associated with some hard-copy publications and will not be limited to a fixed number of yearly volumes. Publication costs will be lower than for traditional hard-copy journals because printing and mailing are eliminated. E-JPE can provide a more efficient avenue for exchange of ideas among authors, editors, and readers through electronic networking systems. The journal will put the petroleum engineering industry at the forefront of technical publishing and pave the way into the next century
