Identifying restimulation candidates can be a time-consuming process because of limited personnel and resources, variation in reservoir quality, incomplete well-file data, and lack of data for conventional well-assessment procedures. Use of an artificial-neural-network (ANN) analysis of public information can help identify well restimulation candidates with the highest potential for production improvement. More-detailed engineering analyses then can focus on high-potential candidates.
