Gas-to-liquids technology for Bunyu-Nibung field, Indonesia
Technology that converts natural gas into synthetic liquid fuels turns unmarketable natural gas reserves into a form that can be transported economically to market. Synthetic liquid fuels produced by the Fischer-Tropsch (FT) process, such as gasoline, kerosene, and diesel, have long been known as the cleanest fuels available. Unfortunately, the cost associated with their production has prevented these fuels from being competitive with fuels produced by conventional process. Better catalysts and process improvements now have made these fuels competitive.
