Tubular joints are integral components of offshore structures, and their design is governed by many codes and standards. The full-length paper summarizes a study to identify the primary sources of bias and uncertainty associated with determination of tubular-joint fatigue life on offshore platforms. On the basis of extensive test data, the important sources of uncertainty in tubular-joint fatigue life are identified and uncertainty models are developed to facilitate reliability-based-design and -inspection guidelines.
