Natural surfactants in modern cosmetic preparations of shower gel type
Six mild shower gels were prepd. by addn. of about 18.5% of surfactants which included 0-2.52% of Saponaria officinails root extract and studied for rheol., washing and foaming properties and surface tension. The gels were pseudo plastic, non-Newtonian, shear-thinning fluids. Their viscosity decreased with increasing the shear rate. The surface tensions of their 1% aq. solns. were 25.81-27.69 mN/m. The foaming and washing properties were similar to the same properties of com. shower gels available on the market.
