La2O3 substitution in Li-Al-P-O-N glasses for potential solid electrolytes applications
Li-Al-P-O-N glasses containing AlN have been successfully prepared by melting batches at 1100-1150 degrees C under N-2 atmosphere in a Si-Mo-heated resistance furnace. La2O3 was introduced in order to improve ionic conductivity of the Li-Al-P-O-N glasses. The amorphous nature of these samples was verified by an X-ray diffractometer. The effects of partial substitution of La2O3 for Al2O3 on the properties such as density, glass transition temperature, the crystallization temperature, chemical stability and Ionic conductivity were investigated. At the same time, the relationship between these properties and the structures of the glasses were discussed. The structural network of the glass series is not greatly changed by small addition of La2O3 content. The introduction of La2O3 into Li-Al-P-O-N glasses enhances the ionic conductivity but decreases slightly the chemical stability, which has a potential application as Li+ solid electrolyte materials.
