트리아세틴 첨가가 폴리(L-락트산)/폴리카보네이트 블렌드의 열적 특성과 물성에 미치는 영향
Effects of Triacetin Addition on the Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Poly(L-lactic acid)/Polycarbonate Blends

폴리(L-락트산)(PLA)의 낮은 파단신도와 작은 충격강도를 개선하기 위하여 PLA/폴리카보네이트(PC) 및 PLA/PC/트리아세틴(TA) 삼성분 블렌드 필름을 용융혼합법에 의해 제조하고, 이들 블렌드들의 열적 특성과 기계적 물성을 분석하였다. PLA와 PC 고분자 사이에는 혼화성이 없었으며, PLA에 PC가 블렌드되면 PLA의 결정 형성이 어려워져 냉결정화 온도가 높아지고 불완전한 결정이 많아져 용융온도는 낮아졌다. PLA(70)/PC(30)에 TA가 첨가되면 결정 생성이 용이해지지만 만들어진 PLA 결정은 불완전해졌다. PLA/PC 블렌드 필름에서 PC 함량이 증가할수록 파단인장응력은 감소하였지만 파단신도와 충격강도는 거의 변화가 없었다. 그러나 PLA(70)/PC(30)/TA의 경우, TA 추가 함량이 많아짐에 따라 파단인장응력은 거의 일정한 반면 파단신도와 충격강도는 크게 향상되어 TA가 PLA/PC 블렌드에서 상용화제로 작용하였다.
In order to enhance the poor impact strength and low elongation-at-break of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLA), PLA/poly(bisphenol A carbonate) (PC) and PLA/PC/triacetin (TA) blend films were prepared by a melt-blending process. Thermal and mechanical properties of the blend films were analyzed by using a universal testing machine, impact strength tester, scanning electron microscope, differential scanning calorimeter, and dynamic mechanical analyzer. Results showed that there was no miscibility between PLA and PC polymers. The crystallization of PLA in PLA/PC blends become different and the PLA crystals formed were imperfect. Addition of TA to PLA(70)/PC(30) blends made the crystallization of PLA easier compared to PLA(70)/PC(30) blends. Although the tensile breaking stress of PLA/PC films decreased as the PC content increased, the elongation-at-break and impact strength of the PLA/PC blend films were not enhanced. However, both elongation-at-break and impact strength of PLA(70)/PC(30)/TA films increased dramatically with increasing TA content without decreasing tensile breaking stress, indicating that TA acted as an excellent compatibilizer in PLA/PC blends.
