Phase Behavior of Aqueous Two-Phase Systems Composed by 1-Allyl-3-methylimidazolium Chloride and Aqueous Potassium Salts at Various Temperatures
The binodal curves data were determined for 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([Amim]Cl) and potassium salts (K3C6H5O7 or K2C4H4O6) aqueous two phase systems at T = (288.15, 298.15, 308.15 and 318.15) K. The experimental data were correlated using the Merchuk equation and two other equations, indicating good agreement was obtained. The salting-out ability of a series of salts has been studied, as an order of K3C6H5O7 > K2C4H4O6. The temperature dependence on the phase diagram has also been discussed. The two-phase area was expanded with a decrease in temperature for the investigative ATPSs.
