An asymptotic expression for the oscillatory decay of atomic Wigner functions is presented. The validity of the expression is demonstrated by referring to earlier work and to the Wigner function for the one-dimensional hydrogen atom. The ground-state Wigner function for the one-dimensional hydrogen atom is evaluated analytically and displayed by means of graphs and contour maps.
