Mineral and ester lubricant samples were studied for the biodegradability by a std. method. The addn. of ester oil to the mineral one resulted in a significant increase in its susceptibility for biodegrdn. For tracking the biodegrdn., the gas chromatog. linked with mass spectrometry was used.
