Kinetic-Studies of the Reaction of Cl Atoms with Brch(2)OCR(3)
The reaction of chlorine atoms with bromomethyl methyl ether, BrCH2OCH3, was studied with the very low pressure reactor (VLPR) technique in the temperature range 273-363 K. The absolute rate constant was found to be independent of temperature and its value was (2.61 +/- 0.46) x 10(-11) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1). Conventional transition state theory suggests that the reaction proceeds mainly via the metathesis of a hydrogen atom from the substituted ether side.
