Temperature-Dependence of the Branching Ratio of So5- Radicals Self-Reaction in Aqueous-Solution
Temperature dependence of chain oxidation of bisulfite occurring through the self-reaction of peroxomonosulfate radicals, SO5- + SO5- --> SO4- + SO4- + O-2(k(1a)), SO5- + SO5- --> S2O82- + O-2(k(1b)), has been determined over the range 278-313 K. The activation energy of the branching ratio of SO5- self-reaction, k(1a)/k(1b), was derived, E(a) = 7.4 +/- 2.4 kcal mol(-1).
