Heterogenization of peracids onto the MCM-41 and SBA-16 mesoporous materials for the epoxidation of cyclooctene
Two new supported peracids onto the pores of SBA-16 and MCM-41 mesoporous materials were prepared and fully characterized. Nitrogen adsorption-desorption (BET) analyses of the supported peracids showed that the textural characteristics of the supports were maintained during the immobilization processes in spite of gradual decrease in their surface areas and pore volumes. The activities of the prepared materials in the epoxidation of cyclooctene were studied. It was found that MCM-41 supported peracid has higher activity than SBA-16 supported one. These supported reagents can be recovered easily and reused in the epoxidation reaction without considerable loss of activity and selectivity. The effect of the type of solvent and catalyst amounts on the conversion of the cyclooctene was also investigated. Furthermore, the results of the attempt to prepare activated carbon supported carboxylic acid are given. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
