Effect of temperature cataphoretic process on selected properties paint coatings and their corrosion resistance
Metal plates were cleaned, phosphated and coated with a paint at 20-45 degrees C. The coatings were washed with water, dried at 180 degrees C and studied for thickness, adhesion, flexibility and drawability as well as for corrosion resistance to salt spray. An increase in process temp. resulted in increasing the coating thickness and decreasing their flexibility and drawability. The process temp. did affect neither coating adhesion nor corrosion resistance to salt spray. The coatings obtained at 25-30 degrees C had the best mech. properties and their corrosive resistance met requirements of the relevant stds.
