The reactivity of C(D-1) with oxygen bearing molecules NO and O-2 at low temperature
The gas-phase reactions, C(D-1) + NO and C(D-1) + O-2 have been studied over the 50-296 K range using a Laval nozzle reactor. C(D-1) atoms were produced by CBr4 photolysis. A tracer technique was employed to follow the kinetics by adding H-2 or CH4 to the flow. H-atoms produced by the C(D-1) + H-2/CH4 reactions were detected by laser-induced fluorescence. Rate constants for the C(D-1) + O-2 reaction show little variation with temperature, whereas rate constants for the C(D-1) + NO reaction increase rapidly below 100 K. Numerical simulations were performed to evaluate the influence of secondary reactions. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
