Highly Selective Photochemical Epoxidation of Cyclohexene Sensitized by Ru(II) Porphyrin-Clay Hybrid Catalyst
Photochemical oxygenation reaction of cyclohexene sensitized by two types of Ru(II)-porphyrin complexes was investigated on the inorganic surface. (RuDMPyP2+)-D-II is a standard and simple cationic porphyrin, whereas (RuDMPyMP2+)-D-II has a precisely designed from the viewpoint of i) cation charge number and the configuration and ii) steric and electric effect of substituents on the porphyrin chromophore. The photochemical reaction with high selectivity sensitized by (RuDMPyMP2+)-D-II proceeded on the clay nanosheet. The selectivity for epoxidation was 96%.
