Mild and Selective Synthesis of Secondary Amines Direct from the Coupling of Two Aldehydes with Ammonia

Synthesis of secondary amines direct from the coupling of two aldehydes was first reported in the presence of NH3 and H-2 molecules. A magnetic material supported palladium catalyst (gamma-Fe2O3@HAP-Pd) was found to .be active for this transformation at room temperature and atmospheric hydrogen pressure, providing structurally diverse secondary amines with good to excellent yields (70.0-92.3%).
