Investigation of 4, 5-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxol-2-one as Additives on the Storage Life of LiNi(0.8)Co(0.15)Al(0.0)5O(2)/Graphite Batteries at Elevated Temperature
The effects of 4, 5-Dimethyl-1, 3-dioxol-2-one (DMDO) as a novel additive on the storage life of LiNi0.8Co0.15Al0.05O2/graphite batteries at elevated temperature were investigated. Experiment results reveal that the simulated storage life is increased from 93 to 341 days with the addition of 1% DMDO. Meanwhile, the cell with 1% DMDO electrolyte is with a more stable solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) resistance and charge-transfer resistance. Surface analysis of the electrodes illustrate that the SEI growth is restrained during storage aging in 1% DMDO electrolyte which is ascribed to the polymerization of DMDO in forming a more effective SEI.
