Phase segregation discussion in a Hf25Zr30Ti20Nb15V10 high entropy alloy: The effect of the high melting point element
This work focuses on the microstructural evaluation of Hf25Zr30Ti20Nb15V10 refractory HEA after arc melting of the corresponding constituents. An initial effort to combine data derived from different prediction models and the actual microstructural features of the alloy is attempted. A possible mechanism explaining the main microstructural observations is introduced, based on the fact that the system's liquidus curve seems to play a decisive role on controlling the solidification mode. The hardness values of the examined system are also included. (C) 2017 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
