The synthesis of a novel series of ambifunctional monomers containing cationically polymerizable vinyl and 1-propenyl ether or 1-butenyl ether groups in the same molecule has been carried out. Studies of the onium salt-induced photopolymerizations of these monomers indicate that both functional groups are highly reactive and that they undergo extensive copolymerization.
