An analysis of flat-plate photovoltaic output in Southern Nevada
A study is reported of predicted flat-plate photovoltaic output in Southern Nevada, and this output is compared to the time variation of the electrical utility load for this area Included in the comparisons are typical summer time variations of predicted outputs and loads on an hourly basis. Also shown are the time differentials between the utility peak load and the peak photovoltaic output. plots are also given of the fractions of the output of the photovoltaic systems relative to their peaks that occur at the time of the utility load peak. Finally, the results of a study are reported that investigates the influence of time-of-day purchase prices on the orientation of the modules to maximize revenues. A simple price model based on one used by the local utility for independent power producer purchases is incorporated to show the influence of pricing on optimal orientation.
