Improved performance of a Zn-air fuel cell by coupling Zn particle fuel and flowing electrolyte
Zn-air fuel cells (ZAFC) with electrolyte flow are the widely acknowledged. In this study, the theoretical aspects of OH- groups reaction with the Zn cluster were proposed using ab initio calculations. The optimal flowrate was then determined as 100 ml/min. The performance was determined as production of open circuit voltage, power and current density values which were with 1.41 V, 427.7 mW/cm(2) and 518.6 mA/cm(2) respectively. The ZAFC with electrolyte flow exhibited better reduction in electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Nyquist plots were exploited to justify the results. Thus, upgrading processes of the ZAFC will prominently provide immense opportunities for their applications.
