Plasmon induced interfacial charge transfer across Zr-based metal-organic framework coupled Ag2WO4 heterojunction functionalized by Ag NPs: Efficient visible light photocatalyst
Herein, we report a unique design of heterogeneous catalyst via post synthetic modification on Zirconium based MOF, UiO-66 with Ag2WO4, decorated with silver nanoparticles. The as synthesized materials were characterized by different characterization techniques. The photoresponsive behavior was evaluated by photodegradation of azo and non-azo dyes, under visible light. Enhanced activity was attributed to synergistic effect of the heterojunction and the surface plasmonic effect of silver nanoparticles. The thermally stable Photocatalyst was found to retain 80% efficiency after five cycles. This work illustrates the potential of combining MOFs with semiconductors in developing highly active heterogeneous catalysts for solar energy utilization.
