Synthesis of 2,5-bis(4-biphenylyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole with the use of cross-coupling reactions of selected organometallic compounds
Five cross-coupling reactions (named Suzuki, Kumada, Negishi, Stifle and Hiyama) were compared in a synthesis of (I, R = Br) with organometallic compd. to give (I, R = Ph). The reactions were carried out in the presence of Pd catalyst (5% by mole), with a molar ratio of the substrates 1:2.5 for 5 h. Treatment of (I, R = Br) with organoborane compd. (Suzuki coupling) gave the highest yields of (I, R = Ph) (21-61%) while with organosilicon compd. (Hiyama coupling) the lowest one (0-5%).
