Studies on water absorptivity and desorptivity of tannery shavings-based composites with mineral additives
Tannery shavings were mixed with mineral fillers (dolomite, kaolin, bentonite) and com. glues (poly(vinyl acetate) and leather gelatin) to resp. composite materials (sheets). After drying at 25 degrees C and ageing, they were studied for water adsorption and desorption. The lowest absorbability was obsd. for the composites made of gelatin glue and poly(vinyl acetate) mixed with 10% kaolin addn.
