Various types of plastics, paper and cardboard-contg. mixts. were sepd. on a sorting line from selectively collected municipal solid waste in the Silesian region. The combustible properties of the residues (including CI-content) were detd. in accordance with the relevant stds. A high calorific value (approx. 90%) of the analyzed residues and low CI content (except for PVC-contg. residues) enabled use of the residues as a raw material for the prodn. of an alternative fuel. Addnl., a modernization of the technol. line was proposed to increase its functionality.
