Alkylation of methyl groups of 2-methylquinolines and similar methyl-N-heteroaromatic compounds proceeded in the presence of RuHCl(CO)(PPh3)(3) and InCl3 center dot 4H(2)O as a dual catalysis to afford the corresponding alkylated products in up to 92% isolated yield.
