Evaluation of the possibility of using fatty acid benzyl esters as asphaltene dispersants in high-boiling petroleum products
Three dispersing agents were added sep. to heavy petroleum products in mass concns. in the 120-200 ppm range to limit the sedimentation of asphaltenes. The effectiveness of dispersing agents was detd. by turbidimetry. Only benzyl palmitate at a concn. of 200 ppm resulted in redn. of the sedimentation of asphaltenes in petroleum products. The effectiveness of the agent in doses 200-600 ppm was detd. immediately after mixing the reagents as well as after 5 days. The increase in the dose resulted in an increase in efficiency, whereas the efficiency decreased with the extension of the period from mixing the reactants.
