Solubility of Bisacodyl in Pure Solvent at Various Temperatures: Data Correlation and Thermodynamic Property Analysis
In this work, the solubility data of bisacodyl in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF), 1,4-dioxane, N-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP), methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, isopropanol, 1-butanol, ethyl acetate, acetone, acetonitrile, and toluene at temperatures ranging from 273.15 to 313.15 K at atmospheric pressure were obtained by the isothermal saturation method. The maximum value was found in pure DMF, followed by the sequence of NMP > 1,4-dioxane > acetone > acetonitrile > ethyl acetate > toluene > 1-butanol > n-propanol > methanol > ethanol > isopropanol. The results were correlated with the modified Apelblat equation and lambda h equation. The maximum value of relative average deviations (RADs) was obtained in isopropanol solution (2.82 x 10(-2)) by the lambda h equation, and the largest root-mean-square deviation (RMSD) is obtained by the lambda h equation (0.66 x 10(-4)) in acetone, which indicates that the experimental data are consistent with the calculated. The obtained solubility data would be very useful for optimizing the purification process of bisacodyl.
