The physicochemical properties of 3D materials based on hyaluronic acid modified by tannic acid addition
3D porous composites based on hyaluronic acid and its blends with chitosan and collagen were obtained through the lyophilization process. Tannic acid was added as structure stabilizer. The properties of the composite materials such as compressive modulus and maximum compressive strength, swelling and density were measured. Moreover, SEM images were taken and the structure of the composites was studied. The results showed that the 3D composites of the hyaluronic acid/collagen with chitosan have different properties than the composite made of hyaluronic acid/collagen blends. Moreover, the influence of tannic acid addition as structure stabilizer was determined. The improvement of materials properties was observed after the use of ternary polymeric mixture as well as after tannic acid addition in comparison with other materials where chitosan and/or tannic acid had not been added.
