Effect of Size Factor on the Activity of Zeolites in the Liquid-Phase Cracking of Hydrocarbons
The catalytic activity of zeolites of the FAU, MFI, and BEA framework types with different SiO2/Al2O3 ratios, which are dispersed in the reaction medium, has been studied in the liquid-phase cracking of n-alkanes at a temperature of 300-350 degrees C and a hydrogen pressure of 7 atm. It has been found that a BEA zeolite catalyst with a SiO2/Al2O3 ratio of 75 exhibits the highest activity. It has been shown that the main factor determining the activity of zeolites under the above conditions is the specific surface area of the catalyst particles smaller than 200 nm.
