Microporous carbon foams for CO2 adsorption obtained from carbon nanospheres
Aq. solns. of sucrose (concn. 0.5-1.0 mol/L) were heated either in an autoclave at 200 degrees C and 12 bar for 12 h or in a microwave reactor at 160 degrees C and 40 bar for 0,4 h. Then the carbonizates were activated sep. (750 degrees C, N atmosphere, KOH in a mass ratio of 2:1 in relations to carbonaceous material) to compare their CO2 adsorption capacity. The methods used and sucrose concn. had a significant impact on the amt. of the adsorbed gas. The highest adsorption value was achieved after carbonization in autoclave at the sucrose concn. 0.5 mol/L The use of more concd. sucrose solns. in each of the tested methods resulted in a decrease in the adsorption capacity of the tested materials.
