Seven V-belts made of rubbers or polyurethanes were combusted in a tube furnace at 960 degrees C. Nine gaseous products (CO, CO2, HCN, NO2, NO, HCI, HBr, and SO2) were identified. Their sp. emissions and ay. concns. by vol. were detd. by using a FTIR gas analyzer. HF or HBr were found in 2 samples only. The results were compared with the concn. limits. They were significantly exceeded.
