Visualization of the Active Zone of an Irregular Electrode by Optical-Absorption
Concentration maps have been visualized during electrodeposition of copper on a pseudo-two-dimensional, U-shaped electrode from copper sulfate solutions, using an optical absorption technique. From these maps, the active zone of the electrode, i.e., the zone where the current density is large, has been determined. Experimental results are in good agreement with numerical calculations performed on a system having a similar geometry.
