LOCAL MEASUREMENTS OF VELOCITY, TEMPERATURE AND GAS-COMPOSITION IN A PULVERIZED-COAL FLAME
A 1.3 MW swirl-stabilised pulverised-coal flame has been mapped with respect to velocity, temperature, gas concentrations and local particle composition. Velocities were measured non-intrusively by Laser Doppler anemometer, and the other parameters were measured by water-cooled probes; all the measurements were performed on Riso's pulverised-coal-fired horizontal tunnel furnace. The applicability and accuracy of LDA measurements in a coal flame have also been investigated. The experiments have resulted in a comprehensive set of measuring data giving a good impression of the anatomy of a swirl-stabilised coal flame. The data are also well-suited to the verification of numerical models of flames.
