Structure and Properties of a New Purely Organic Magnetic Conductor, delta'-(BEDT-TTF)(2)(PO-CONHCH(cyclopropyl)SO3)center dot 1.7H(2)O
A new bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (BEDT-TTF)based salt with an organic magnetic anion, PO-CONHCH(cyclopropyl)SO3(1), has been prepared (PO = 2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-3pyrrolin-1-oxyl free radical). The magnetic susceptibility obeys a combination of the Curie-Weiss (theta =+0.27 K) and SingletTriplet (J = 220 K) models, indicating that both the radical spins and holes on the BEDT-TTF layers are localized. The relatively low room temperature resistivity of 1.4 Omega.cm indicates that the BEDT-TTF system is located on or near the boundary between itinerant and localized states.
