Propagation of gas explosions in roadways with different cross-sectional shapes
To explore the propagation of gas explosions in roadways, test pipes with circular, square, rectangular, and trapezoidal cross-sections were used to monitor the temperature and pressure changes. The results showed the longest time was required for the flame to fill the roadway with a trapezoidal cross-section. The highest temperature was observed for the square cross-section. The maximum explosion pressures in the roadways was about 0.6 MPa, but the longest time was required in the roadway with a trapezoidal cross-section, while the gas explosion temperature was the lowest, and the time to reach the maximum explosion pressure was the longest.
