Various types of paper products (magazines, cardboard, newspapers, toilet paper) were analyzed for the content of moisture, ash, C, H, S and Hg. Their heat of combustion was detd. The materials were subjected to low-temp. pyrolysis (200-400 degrees C). Mass loss and the amt. of Hg released were detd. at 300 degrees C. The amt. of Hg released was 63% and the mass loss was 39%.
