Studies on radium isotopes removal from water with zeolites
Ra-226 and Ra-228 isotopes were removed from brine drained from hard coal mine excavation sites in the Upper Silesian Coal Basin by adsorption on synthetic NaP1, 3A, 5A, 13X zeolites as well as on a natural clinoptilolite. The zeolites had a fine-cryst. or granular form. Two types of dynamic tests were performed. The zeolite NaP1 showed the Ra removal efficiency of 92%. The efficiency of other zeolites was much lower. Addnl., an anal. of current legislation concerning the concn. of Ra in water and waste was performed.
