Callus could be induced from the leaf and root of the celery regenerated plant. The somatic embryogenesis frequency of the callus induced from the leaf of the regenerated plant was about three-fold as high as that of callus induced from the F1 celery plant. On the other hand, callus induced from the root of the regenerated plant showed a low embryo formation frequency. There was no significant difference in the morphology between the regenerated plant using the callus induced from the F1 celery plant and the regenerated plant using the callus induced from the leaf of the regenerated plant.
